*Tony Thomas came into scouting at 1st Redditch Group as a parent helper before becoming an integral part of any outdoor activities organised by the troop especially our Annual Mountain Weekend where he was in his element as a fine mountain walker and he nursed many a young scout who may have been struggling. He became Group Quartermaster and joined the newly formed Scout Fellowship and also became a key member of the backstage crew on the district Gang Shows and on other district events. Tony was a keen supporter of the Trek and walked every year until ill health took its toll. Tony was known to the boys in the troop as Tim and was hugely popular with everyone. For these reasons the Tony Thomas creative award was commissioned in a lasting tribute to Tony and his contribution to Scouting.
