The 2020 Virtual Trek Challenge - 4th October 2020

The nearest thing to taking part in the The Trek Challenge “Without putting your hiking boots on.”

 

The Virtual Trek Challenge (VTC) includes many of the features of the actual event including fun challenges, game challenges, map reading challenges and is suitable for all age groups.

 

  • Entry to the VTC will be free.

  • The event is open to all members of Scout and Guide groups and teams of up to three can be entered into one of three classes.

    • Pathfinder Class aged up to 14 years

    • Explorer Class aged up to 18 years.

    • ​Venture/Adult Class aged 18 upwards.

  • Enter the challenge now! by using the Enter the VTC link within the Contact menu above.

  • There will be 15 separate Challenges all of which will score points.

  • Teams can attempt as many challenges as they wish, but the more challenges you complete, the more points you are likely to gain.

  • Some of the challenges require the use of an Ordanance Survey Map No. 150 covering Worcester and the Malverns. 

  • In addition there will be a 16th Bonus Challenge which will include  many of the pre-planning aspects associated with competing in the Annual Trek Challenge.

  • The time limit for this virtual event will be 7 hours, the same time span as the normal Trek Challenge, but teams can spend as long as they wish on the challenges within this time.

  • Any Answers returned after the 7 hour limit will not qualify.

  • Winning teams, determined by the teams with the most points awarded, will receive a photograph of their respective trophy which will include a shield with the winning teams name on.

  • The challenge is best completed using a computer, as the website does not display well on a phone or small screen tablet.

ON THE DAY ...

  • All Challenges are to be undertaken safely and your own assessment and mitigation of any risk should be considered. The VTC team do not take any responsibility for any injury or loss sustained in completing any of the challenges set. 

  • Every nominated team captain will be sent via email a password to enter the VTC section of the website (in the menu above).

  • Once logged in, the 16 challenges will be available to the teams.

  • Teams should complete the challenges and enter their answers onto the answer form that will also be available on the web page

  • Complete answer forms should be sent to our Email address redditchtrekchallenge@gmail.com along with any additional attachment that was necessary for the challenges completed by the team

  • All challenges are well explained and should not need any further clarification.
